The Alexandria girls’ hockey team jumped to a 2-0 lead in the first period and added an insurance goal in the third period as they blanked the Fergus Falls Otters on Tuesday night, 3-0 at the Community Ice Arena in Fergus Falls.  Alexandria goalie Hunter Sellnow stopped all 22 shots she face, while Ana Jyrkas turned aside 19-of-22 Cardinal shots on goal.

“Reality check,” said Head Coach Tim Lill of the Otters.  “Alex came out and showed us exactly how we need to play vs tough teams.  Our second and third periods were better, but opportunities close quickly if we aren’t executing.  Overall, this loss will make us better tomorrow.”

Emma Ramstorf scored both first period goals, the first one assisted by Sophia Korynta and the second one, unassisted.

The third period goal came from Jersey Severson, assisted by Lilly Dutton and Julia Doherty.

Alexandria (3-3-1) will host Willmar in another Central Lakes Conference contest on Thursday night.

Fergus Falls (7-3) has a home game against Sartell/Sauk Rapids-Rice on Thursday.
