“Thought Verndale really played tough tonight,” said Wadena-Deer Creek Head Coach Jordan Cresap. “They are well coached, disciplined and really make you work for everything. We responded well in the second half and stepped it up defensively. Balance offensively was key for us as well.”
Wadena-Deer Creek was led by 19 points from Maddie Carsten, who hit four 3’s on the night, and 17 from Addyson Gravelle. Payton Gravelle added 10 points and Montana Carsten finished with 9.
The Pirates were led by 18 points from Katie Blaha. Reagen Ludovissie had 9 and Kaija Madsen contributed 8.
Wadena-Deer Creek (3-0) is at New York Mills on Friday night, while Verndale (0-3) will host Nevis.
