The West Central Area Girls Basketball team had a tough battle against Royalton on December 3rd, falling by a score of 56-43. “I am very proud of the growth my team has made from game one to game two,” stated first year head coach Rebecca Holland of WCA. “We are excited to get into conference play on Tuesday against Sauk Centre!”
Macy Grosz scored a team high 14 points, dished out 3 assists and collected a pair of rebounds for the lady Knights and Addison Staples finished with 10 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists. Claire Stark had 9 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists, and Mya Foslien recorded 8 points and 2 boards. Jayden Styba contributed 7 rebounds and 3 assists to go along with 2 points.
Royalton was led by Kylie Waytashek and Mya Yourczek with 17 and 10 points, respectively. Yourczek finished with a double-double, securing 11 rebounds, and also led the team with 4 assists and 2 steals. Haylie Wolbeck had 8 points and 3 assists and Alise Schoenrock contributed 8 points, 5 rebounds, 4 steals and 3 assists.
