M State Men Suffer First Loss

M State is 4-1 in Men’s Basketball after their 77-58 home court loss to Minnesota North College-Vermilion on Friday night.  The Ironmen led 30-22 at the half and outscored the Spartans 47-36 over the final 20 minutes.

Yonis Mohamud had a team high 17 points for M State.  Noel Kabanga (16 points, 9 rebounds) and Foday Sheriff (11 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals) just missed double-doubles.

M State shot 41.3% (26-63) from the field and the two teams each grabbed 40 rebounds.

Vermilion shot 43.3% (26-60) and they were efficient from 3-point range, making 14-of-31 (45.2%) shots.

The Ironmen were led by 16 points from CJ BrownBrian Ritchie added 12 points and Sammy Russ and RaShawn Wilcox each had 11 points.

M State will host Mesabi Range at 3:00pm Saturday.
