New London-Spicer Girls Spoil Home Opener for Lady Knights
New London-Spicer paid a visit to West Central Area High School in Barrett on Tuesday night as both teams opened up the 2022-23 girls’ basketball season. The Wildcats came out on top in this one, beating the Knights on their home court by the score of 70-43. New London-Spicer built a 41-15 halftime lead.
Avery Rich scored a game high 21 points to lead the Wildcats, while Dakota Rich added 17.
The lady Knights were led by Macy Grosz with 18 and Claire Stark with 16.
“Tough loss tonight,” stated WCA Head Coach Rebecca Holland. “We had a rough start in the first half with turnovers, but I am proud of how my girls came out and played for most of the second half. There are always nerves in the first game of the year, but the girls were able to finally settle in. I am excited to be coaching this great group of girls this year and excited to see how these girls grow and improve throughout the season.”
WCA has a 2:30pm tip-off at Royalton on Saturday.
