Rebels Defeat Fairmont 16-7 in AAA Semifinal Contest at US Bank

The Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton football team moved on to the Class AAA Championship game with a 16-7 win over Fairmont on Saturday at US Bank Stadium in downtown Minneapolis.  DGF ran for 235 yards in the game, didn’t turn the ball over and held Fairmont to just 19 rushing yards and 181 yards of total offense on the day.

Jordan Summers found the end zone on a 14 yard run with 11:22 left in the first half and Hayden Hauf booted the extra point for a 7-0 lead for the Rebels.  Fairmont tied the game at 7-7 with 8:16 to play in the second quarter on a 10 yard pass from Brendan Schmidtke to Levi Pooley and a PAT kick by Owen Burmeister.

After a scoreless third quarter, DGF scored 3 seconds into the fourth on a 22 yard field goal by Hauf, giving them a 10-7 lead.  With 3:31 left in the game, the Rebels secured the win with a 25 yard rushing touchdown by Nicholas Waale.

Summers led the Rebels with 168 rushing yards on 33 carries.  Owen Leach completed 6-of-7 passes for 49 yards and Brody O’Keefe was the leading receiver with 4 catches for 29 yards.  O’Keefe led the defense with 6 tackles.  Brody Friend intercepted a pass and had 4 tackles for the Rebels, and Max Baumgartner recovered a fumble.

DGF will now face New London-Spicer for the AAA title at 1:00pm Saturday, December 3 at US Bank Stadium.
