The 2021-22 season was one of the greatest in Fergus Falls girls’ basketball history.  The Otters won the Central Lakes Conference championship, won the Section 8AA title, and finished as AA State runners-up at Williams Arena, ending the season with a 26-6 record.  It’s a tough act to follow, especially when you lose four starters and five of your top players to graduation, however, with four players returning who have extensive varsity playing time on a winning team, the Otters will look to surprise some teams.

“This team will have to play solid team defense and will hard every night,” said second year Head Coach Josh Steer.  “We play a very difficult conference schedule and have a strong section as well.  We have some returning experience, mixed in with a lot of younger players that will need to get varsity experience.  This team will be fun to watch grow and improve as the year goes on as they gain more and more experience.”

Returning letter winners include seniors Karley Braeger (SG), Cyntreya Lockett (PF) and Jenna Carlson (SG), and sophomore Brynn Sternberg (PG).

Key newcomers at the varsity level are junior Karyssa Eberle (PF) and sophomores Bella Anderson (PF) and Julia Hajicek (SG).

Steer will be assisted by Jess Price and Matt Lemke.  He looks to Perham, Barnesville, Hawley, Pelican Rapids and Crookston to be the teams to beat in Section 8AA.
