The Battle Lake girls’ basketball team is coming off a very successful 16-8 season of a year ago, winning 10 of their 12 Little 8 Conference matchups during the season. They lost a strong senior group of Grace VanErp, Ady Tysdal and Emmie Lundquist, but as Head Coach David Marso enters his 14th year at the helm, he does so with six returning letter winners to lead the team.
Seniors Morgan Malone, Erika Heibel and Ally Goodman are back, along with juniors Layne Frost and Maddi Cameron, and freshman Sophie Akerman. Freshman Kenady Cameron will be counted on to contribute at the varsity level.
“We will have some adjusting to do with the loss of a strong senior group,” acknowledged Coach Marso. “We will need a number of young players to step up into new roles to help us this season.”
Nick Laven will assist Marso. Hancock and Underwood are his top picks in the Little 8 and in Section 6A.
