The Border West Buccaneers End of the Season Awards were distributed on Sunday. Sophomore Julia Schmidt was named to the All-Conference team. The Minnesota Cross Country Coaches Association has an Academic Excellence Program where a gold level is a cumulative GPA of 3.75. The varsity and JV teams both earned gold level status.
Team awards went to Julia Schmidt (Most Valuable Runner-Girls), Joe Arens (Most Valuable Runner-Boys), Derek Lupkes (Buccaneer Award-Team Spirit), Liz Franzese (Mental Toughness), Ian Swedlund (Most Improved Runner-JV/V Boys), Karter Martinek (Most Improved Runner-JV/V Girls), Carter Fickes (Most Improved Runner-Junior High) and Karissa Anderson (Rookie Award-Outstanding First Year Runner).
Junior High All-Conference runners were Jacob Blume and Karissa Anderson.
Captains for the 2023 season will by Kyle Kremer, Lucas Gahlon, Julia Schmidt and Braylen Schmidt.
Letter winners were 7th grader Raelyn Wiegman, 8th graders Jacob Blume, Carter Fickes, freshmen Lucas Gahlon, Drew Sykora, sophomores Kyle Kremer, Liz Franzese, Julia Schmidt, Karter Martinek, juniors Mikaelyn Johnson, Braylen Scmidt, and seniors Ian Swedlund, Brady Pederson, Derek Lupkes and Joe Arens.
