Otters Sending 5 Swimmers to State, Place 2nd in Section Meet
The Fergus Falls girls’ swimming and diving team finished as Section 8A runners-up on Saturday in Warroad scoring 358.5 points, second to Park Rapids with 561. Third place went to Detroit Lakes with 342.5 and Perham/New York Mills came in fourth with 284 points. They were followed by Thief River Falls (246), Fosston-Bagley-Crookston (143) and Warroad/Roseau/Greenbush-Middle River (87).
Fergus Falls qualified five girls for state, Estee VerSteeg in the 200 IM and 500 Freestyle, Alexis Wellman in the 100 freestyle, Aisling Cox in the 100 backstroke and the 200 freestyle relay team of VerSteeg, Mayah Fear, Karlie Peterson and Wellman.
State qualifiers for Perham/New York Mills include Brittney Lorentz and Avery McAllister in diving and Taylor Ziemke in the 50 freestyle.
