The Fergus Falls girls’ hockey team opened their home season with a 5-1 win over Marshall on Friday night.  The Otters put 39 shots on goal compared to 14 for the Tigers.  Ana Jyrkas came up with 13 saves in the Otter net.

Hannah Bye netted the first goal for the Otters with assists from Rylynn Krein and Brook ZierdenMaddie Hulter made it 2-0 with 2:01 left in the first period.  Lydia Johnson earned the assist.

Skye Norgren assisted on a goal by Tyra Skjeret with 12:46 to go in the second period to give the Otters a 3-0 lead.  Marshall notched their only goal with 7:38 remaining when Brooklyn Mauch scored from Aubree Matheny.

Maddie Brimhall tallied an unassisted goal and Hulter scored her second goal, also unassisted, and shorthanded.

“A fun home opener with Hannah ‘bullet’ Bye netting her first varsity goal,” said Head Coach Tim Lill.  “Our special teams need some polishing, but that is to be expected early.”
