The Barnesville football team led 13-0 at halftime and added 8 fourth quarter points as they blanked Moose Lake-Willow RIver in the Class A quarterfinals on Thursday night.  The Trojans held their opponent to just 90 yards (28 rushing, 62 passing) on the night.

"It was cold, windy and miserable, just like we like it, perfect to run the ball," stated Barnesville Head Coach Bryan Strand.  "Both teams are predominantly run teams.  We struggled a bit at times to move the ball but yet we averaged just under 5 yards a carry.  I was very pleased with our defense holding them to just 90 yards.  Scheme wise they did some things to us that our kids struggled to adjust to and we just weren't physical enough at times up front, a problem we don't face very often."

Braeden Bredman scored the first TD on a 4 yard run and Isaac Maneval made it 7-0 with his extra point kick.  An 8 yard TD run by John Roller put the lead at 13-0 after the first quarter.

In the fourth quarter Roller broke loose for a 53 yard touchdown run and Dawson Gregg punched in the two-point conversion run to finish the scoring.

Roller led the rushing attack with 109 yards on 13 carries and Bredman finished with 41 yards on 8 attempts.  Zachary Bredman completed 3-of-7 passes for 53 yards and Tate Inniger was 1-for-1 throwing the ball for 3 yards.  Wyatt Suter had two receptions for 42 yards.

Defensively, Asher O'Brien had an interception, Austin Bolgrean caused a fumble, and Logan Yeske had a fumble recovery.  Tackling leaders were Connor Loeks (7 solo, 3 assisted), Jonny Robideau (3 solo, 3 assisted) and Peyton Amundson (2 solo, 3 assisted).

"Our 'D' line has been amazing and last night was no exception," noted Coach Strand.  "They got off the ball well and made the QB do things faster than he wanted to and our linebackers and defensive backs all played their assignments well.  Aaron Baker went out in the first half with a thigh bruise and Asher O'Brien stepped in and did a great job, even getting an interception in the end zone on fourth down.  It was a heads up play as if he had batted it down on fourth down we end up at the 3 yard line.  By picking it off we got the ball at the 20 yard line.  I believe we are healthy heading into this next game, or will be by next Friday.  I'm excited for the week ahead as all the teams left are undefeated and I feel it is a very solid field of teams.  The boys have worked hard for this and are excited."
