Freshmen Faith Marion and Kaleigh Sip delivered 14 and 10 kills, respectively, as the M State lady Spartans executed a solid 3-0 (25-14, 25-20, 25-9) victory over Fulton Montgomery Community College on Friday in the consolation round of the NJCAA Division III National Volleyball Tournament at the Regional Sports Center in Rochester.
Sophomore All-American setter Kaia Strom continued her excellent tournament play by distributing 35 set assists. Emily Dehler came through with 8 kills and Lindsey Kurz added 4 kills and 7 blocks (3 solo, 4 assisted).
The Spartans also had 10 ace serves, led by Marion with 4 and Kendra Emery with 3. Emery also had 12 digs and libero Avery Wanner had a team high 16 digs.
Madelyn Avery and Deandra Myers led the Raiders with 5 kills each and setter Aireana Muhlberger distributed 13 assists.
M State will now face Dutchess Community College for fifth place in the nation at 12:00 noon on Saturday.
