The first set of the lady Spartans quarterfinal match on Thursday night was a back-and-forth battle which was won by Dallas College-Brookhaven 25-22.  The Bears went on to win sets two and three by scores of 25-18 and 25-15, sending the M State lady Spartans into the consolation round of the NJCAA Division III National Volleyball Tournament at the Rochester Regional Sports Center.

Serving errors plagued the Spartans throughout the match as they had 10 missed serves.  That, coupled with the fact that the Bears served up 13 aces proved to be the undoing of M State.

Setters Jordan Bruscato and Camryn Dawley each recorded four ace serves while combining for 31 set assists for Dallas College.  Ariel Austin led the attack with 10 kills.  Kelsey Trevino and Madison Beasley added 7 kills each.

M State was led by Kaleigh Sip with 12 kills.  Emily Dehler and Faith Marion added 7 kills apiece, while Brooke Hovland and Lindsey Kurz each had 5 kills.  Kaia Strom distributed 32 set assists, had 4 kills and served up an ace.  Kurz also had 3 solo blocks and 1 block assist.  Avery Wanner led the defensive effort with 18 digs.  Laci Strom had 2 aces serves and 6 digs.

M State will play Finger Lakes Community College at 2:00pm Friday in the consolation bracket.  The lady Spartans will play again Saturday at either 10:00am or noon, depending on the outcome of Friday's contest.
