Fifth-seeded Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton went into Pelican Rapids on Wednesday night and defeated the fourth-seeded Vikings in four sets.  The Vikings posted a 25-19 win in the first set, however, the Rebels came back strong to even the match with a 25-21 second set win.  DGF would not be denied as they won sets 3 and 4 impressively, 25-11 and 25-12 to eliminate the Vikings.

“We were excited to secure the 4 seed and host the Rebels,” stated Pelican Rapids Head Coach Heidi Isaman.  “We won a tight match with them back in September and knew this would be a good matchup with a tight battle ahead.  We came out very strong, serving and hitting the ball aggressively.  We passed the ball very well to get our offense in system and our setters had opportunities to move the ball around to all hitters.  The Vikings were in a great offensive rhythm and were in control of set 1.  The Rebels strong serving in set 2 got us out of system and we were forced to send a few free balls over the net.  The Rebels took advantage and got their own offense in system.  We were not able to bring back our powerful offense to clinch the set.  We came out flat and really struggled on serve receive in the third set and were unable to get our offense in system.  In the fourth set we were down 10-9 when the Rebels went on a 9 point run as we struggled passing the ball and they took advantage.  This was a very disappointing loss as we were not ready to end this season tonight.  However, I was extremely proud of all these girl and how they battled and how hard they worked all season.  They have improved so much over the season and I could not be more proud of each every one of them.”

The Vikings were led by Kelsey Isaman (7 kills, 13 digs, 1 block kill), Ellie Welch (7 kills, 4 digs, 9 assists, 1 block kill), Morgan Korf (31 digs, 1 ace, 4 assists), Hazel Haugrud (12 digs), Anna Roisum (5 digs, 15 assists, 6 kills, 3 block kills, 1 ace) and Claudia Gurath (2 kills, 2 digs, 1 block kill).  Marie Backstrom contributed 4 kills and Grace Backstrom added 2 kills.
