The Rothsay volleyball team had the tough task of traveling to Henning to face the top-seeded Hornets on Wednesday night in a Section 6A North Sub-Section playoff match.  The Hornets were able to dispatch the Tigers in three sets, winning 25-15, 25-13 and 25-8.

“Our players should be very proud that we came out strong from the opening serve and did not back down one bit during the match against one of the toughest opponents we could ever face,” reported Rothsay Head Coach John Reber. “We served 97% as a team, passed reasonably well for much of the match, set it up cleanly and took our best swings. Defensively, our block was on time and on target, yielding 5 full blocks, and we dug as many as we could. Our team played hard and played as a team through the end, so as a coach I could not have possibly asked for anything more.”

Reber continued, “Our seniors Emma Buckingham, Katie Reber, Madison Tillman, Adriana Willits and Kenadi Carlsrud got to share the floor together for the final points at the end, and that was special for them and for the team. We came so far this season, from 0 wins in 2021 to 9 this year, including making the Playin round for the first time since 2015. While we had some new additions helping us out this year, I am very happy that we had many returning players from last season who were able to drive that great progress. Our foundation in both team culture and volleyball fundamentals is looking strong and I think our returning players will be ready to take yet another step forward in 2023.”

Henning will now host New York Mills at 7:00pm Friday.  No Henning information was received.
