Top Seeded Warriors Cruise to First Round Victory over CGB

Wheaton/Herman-Norcross rode a 34 point first quarter to a 64-8 victory over Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley in the Section 4 9-Man football quarterfinals on Wednesday night in Wheaton.  The Warriors compiled 409 total yards on the night and held CGB to just 70 yards in the game.

Marshall Tolifson delivered a 5 yard scoring toss to Andrew Walker early in the game and Clint Determan ran the ball in for the two-point conversion, giving Wheaton/Herman-Norcross an 8-0 lead.  Tolifson then scored on a one yard run and Determan’s PAT kick made it 15-0.  Tolifson connected with Walker a second time, this one from 26 yards out and the Warriors built their lead to 21-0.  A 31 yard run by Brody Nachbor, followed by a Determan kick gave Wheaton/Herman-Norcross a 28-0 advantage.  They increased the lead to 34-0 after Grant Dawson hauled in a 27 yard aerial from Tolifson, ending the first quarter.

Tolifson’s fourth TD pass of the game was 5 yard connection with Kevin Casper in the second quarter.  Determan’s kick made it a 41-0 lead.  Patrick Forcier caught a 27 yard pass from Tolifson and Determan again booted the extra point to expand the lead to 48-0 at the half.

Holden Rinke hooked up with Brayden Hormann on a 4 yard TD pass in the third quarter and then hit Caden Olsen with a two-point conversion pass to make it 56-0.  Nachbor’s 53 yard run and his two-point conversion gave the Warriors a 64-0 lead as the third quarter came to an end.

CGB had the only touchdown of the fourth quarter on a 4 yard run to put the final score at 64-8.

Tolifson completed 7-of-8 passes for 117 yards and 5 touchdowns to lead the Warriors.  Nachbor had 83 rushing yards on just 3 carries, finding the end zone twice.  Dylan Bainbridge finished with 62 yards on 4 carries and Forcier carried the ball 5 times for 58 yards.  Walker had two receptions for 31 yards.  Nine different players caught at least one pass for the Warriors.

Defensively, Brayden Hofer had an interception, while Bryant Callenius and Forcier each recovered a fumble.  Sacks were recorded by Drake Berning, Rinke and Tucker Blume.

Wheaton/Herman-Norcross will host Sebeka in the semifinal round of the Section playoffs at 2:00pm Saturday in Wheaton.
