Bulldogs Advance in 6A Football Playoffs with 33-22 Win Over Lake Park-Audubon

The Ottertail Central Bulldogs advanced to the Section 6A semifinals with a 33-22 win over Lake Park-Audubon on Tuesday night in Henning.  OTC will travel to Pine River-Backus for a 2:00pm kickoff on Saturday afternoon.

The Bulldogs jumped out to an early 6-0 lead when Jack Mekalson carried the ball into the end zone from 9 yards out with 9:14 to go in the first quarter.  Lake Park-Audubon took an 8-6 lead on a 5 yard run by Brodie Chilton and a Chilton two-point conversion run with 3:45 left in the quarter.

OTC scored the next four touchdowns, with three of them coming in the second quarter as they built a 26-8 halftime advantage over the Raiders.  With 8:49 remaining in the half Bricker Bladow scored on a 4 yard run.  He then went 22 yards for his second TD of the night, capping a 5 play, 55 yard scoring drive at 4:17, followed by a Bladow two-point conversion run.  With just 1:29 left in the half Mason Hammer went in from the two yard line, ending the first half scoring.

Hammer’s one yard TD run in the third quarter and Owen Buehler’s PAT kick put the lead at 33-8.

LPA ended the night by scoring twice in the fourth quarter.  Luca Beske hit Drew Harris with a 24 yard TD pass with 10:38 to play and with just 44 seconds remaining Beske connected with Carter Minske from 2 yards out, completing a 13 play, 96 yard scoring drive.  Harris booted the extra point.

Bladow finished the night with 121 rushing yards on 15 carries and Hammer added 70 yards on 11 rushing attempts.  Mekalson was 4-for-6 throwing the football for 105 yards.  OTC had 356 total yards (105 passing, 251 rushing).

Lake Park-Audubon finished with 263 total yards (74 passing, 189 rushing).  Harris had a team high 97 yards on 18 carries and Beske completed 8-of-19 passes for 74 yards.
