Fifth-Seeded Cowboys Upend Fourth-Seeded Braves in Menahga

Breckenridge ran for 330 yards Tuesday night and held Menahga to one rushing yards as the Cowboys recorded a 35-0 win in the Section 6A quarterfinals.  Breckenridge had 375 yards of total offense and Menahga had only 110 total yards.  The Cowboys had 19 first downs and were a perfect 6-for-6 on fourth down conversion tries.

Paul Armitage (17 carries, 133 yards, 2 TD’s), Gavin Pederson (17 carries, 81 yards, TD) and Bailey Evans (5 carries, 61 yards) were the rushing leaders for Breckenridge.  Evans completed 4-of-7 passes for 45 yards and 2 touchdowns.  Landon Blaufuss had 2 receptions for 29 yards and a score.

Breckenridge scored on a first quarter touchdown pass of 4 yards from Evans to Blaufuss.  The extra point kick by Gusten Bergkvist Eriksson gave the Cowboys a 7-0 lead.

In the second quarter, Pederson scored on a 5 yard run and the Cowboys led 13-0 at halftime.

Evans connected with Pederson on a 5 yard touchdown pass and Armitage ran the ball into the end zone for the two-point conversion and a 21-0 lead.  Armitage added an 11 yard TD run later in the third quarter to up the lead to 27-0.

The final touchdown came in the fourth quarter when Armitage took it in from 7 yards out.  A two-point run by Pederson put the final score at 35-0 and sends fifth-seeded Breckenridge to New York Mills to face the top-seeded Eagles at 2:00pm Saturday in the Section 6A semifinals.
