The West Central Area Knights took first place in the Silver Division of the Fergus Falls Blocktoberfest Volleyball Tournament on Thursday.  The Knight went 3-1 on the day with a 2-0 (25-20, 25-7) loss to Detroit Lakes, a 2-1 (25-15, 23-25, 15-7) over Pelican Rapids, a 2-1 (25-19, 16-25, 15-10) win over Fergus Falls and a 2-0 (25-19, 27-25) win over Minnewaska Area.

“Fergus hosted a great tournament with a lot of good competition,” stated WCA Head Coach Missy Foslien.  “We struggled at times with serve receive.  Sometimes you just have to power through it and it can be frustrating, but this team really did a good job of maintaining their composure when we had to go to a third set.  Our freshman, Madison Fagre, stepped up and played well on the outside.  She came through with some clutch kills to end our last close game against Minnewaska.”

Stat leaders for the day were Macy Grosz (77 assists, 28/30 serving, 4 aces, 23 digs), Mya Foslien (33/35 serving, 4 aces, 37 digs, 34 kills), Madelyn Westrom (29/31 serving, 4 aces, 33 digs, 4 kills), Sophie Sanstead (19 digs), Izzy Puchalski (31/34 serving, 6 aces, 8 digs, 19 kills), Lexi Hunter (24/26 serving, 1 ace, 7 digs), Whitney Westrom (36/40 serving, 5 aces, 17 digs, 10 kills, 4 blocks), Addison Staples (12 kills, 3 digs), Madison Fagre (18 digs, 10 kills, 2 blocks) and Wylie McNally (4 digs).

The lady Knights are off until their first playoff match on Thursday with their opponent and the location of the match to be determined when seedings come out on Saturday.
