The Perham girls and boys cross country teams are coming off a great last two weeks of running as they head into post-season. The girl's team won its 19th straight conference title off the heels of running the fastest team average in school history at the Perham Invite.  The boy's team captured its 20th HOL title over the last 21 years. Led by Bjorn Anderson, who captured his first individual Conference title last week at the Perham Invite, posted a 15:37 just missing Keeghan Hurley's course record.

The Perham girls finished the Perham Invite with a top 5 of 18:45, 19:21, 19:21, 19:28, and 19:38. Their 6th runner also broke 20, and their 7th runner was very close. Gracie Morris posted a time that ranks 2nd fastest individually in school history at the Perham Invite.  That success continued into the HOL Conference meet where she won her 2nd consecutive individual title with her team posting a perfect score of 15. Four Perham girls broke 20 minutes on the Hawley course, the most challenging course the Yellowjackets run all season, with the last 2 miles over very hilly sections. It was also 15-20 mph winds with flurries off and on.  All-Conference Honors to our entire top 7 with Quincy Anderson 2nd, Mya Morris 3rd, Ella Hendrickson 4th, Leelou Novotny 5th, Caidyn Breid 7th, and Myriah Tharaldson 9th!

For the boys, Bjorn Anderson, like Gracie Morris, ranks #2 all-time individually in school history. At the Perham meet, the Yellowjackets put their top 5 runners under 16:42, with each one running a personal best time. Micah Thompson, the conference runner-up this week, also posted an all-time PR of 16:18. The Perham boys scored 22 at the conference meet and posted 6 All-Conference. Congrats to Bjorn Anderson, the HOL individual champ! All-Conference honors to Micah Thompson 2nd, Dylan Guck 5th, Caden Doll 6th, Carter Flatau 8th, and Brayden Glorvigen 15th. Perham’s 7th runner Blake Swenson finished 19th, just missing All-Conference honors.

“We ended up sweeping all 6 team titles at the HOL Conference Meet,” reported Head Coach Jeff Morris. “Also, congrats to HOL Individual Champions in JH & JV races. Boys JH champ Lyam Schumacher, Boys JV champ Henry Mathiason, Girls JH champ Tessa Starzl, & Girls JV champ Cora Grismer!”
