Back in September the M State Spartans beat Century College in five competitive sets in Fergus Falls.  The two teams met for the rematch on Friday night with Century hosting the lady Spartans.  This time around M State fell in 4 very competitive sets, winning 25-21 in the first set and then losing 25-21, 25-20 and 25-23, suffering their first MCAC Southern Division loss of the season.

“Although last night was disappointing with the loss, it showed us what we really need to focus and improve on this week in order to finish out regular season strong,” said head volleyball coach Abby Crowser. “Century is a good team and in order to win against them, everyone needs to perform and we need to play well. We struggled with getting a good pass on serve receive throughout the match which made setting up our offense difficult. We learn from what happened, practice to improve and move on. We are looking forward to getting in the gym on Monday to prepare for the upcoming week ahead.”

The lady Spartans were led by Faith Marion (12 kills, 18/19 serving, 16 digs), Lindsey Kurz (8 kills), Kaleigh Sip (7 kills, 2 solo blocks, 1 block assist), Brooke Hovland (6 kills, 1 solo block), Emily Dehler (5 kills, 5 digs, 3 solo blocks, 9/10 serving), Kaia Strom (5 kills, 14/16 serving, 28 set assists, 10 digs, 1 solo block), Avery Wanner (19/20 serving, 1 ace, 28 digs), Laci Strom (11/13 serving, 1 ace, 11 digs) and Kendra Emery (12/12 serving, 8 digs).
