The Brandon-Evansville volleyball team celebrated their five senior athletes on Tuesday night in their 3-0 (25-19, 25-14, 25-9) Little Eight Conference victory over the Ashby Arrows.  Grace Otto, EmmaLee Brethorst, Kendall Hoidahl, and two-year captains Sydney Schaefer and Gretchen Bredberg were honored.  “We have loved having those five in our program and will continue to enjoy our time together as the year progresses,” said Head Coach Kelly Olson of B-E.  It was a special night to celebrate these five young ladies.”

The Chargers also had Sydney Schaefer reach the 1000 assist mark in her career on Tuesday night.

“We started the match with our five seniors on the floor,” reported Coach Olson.  “As a staff and roster we wanted to see them all play together as a recognition of the time they have spent in the program.  At the midway point of set one we tried to go to our regular rotation.  It took a while for things to get back to normal, but with the score at 12-11 we closed set one out with a 25-19 win.  Set two we played a bit better, but Ashby dug up a lot of swings. They had some great defensive plays from their back row all night, and it really kept them in the match.  I liked our aggressive serving and ability to pick up their attacks and make offense out of it.  Set two saw us win 25-14.  Set three we finally got rolling and controlled the ball very well.  Winning 25-9 was a great finish for us.  It was great to get EmmaLee back from a non-volleyball injury and establish ourselves on the court tonight moving forward towards the end of the season.”

Brandon-Evansville will travel to Hancock for their final regular season and LEC match on Thursday.
