West Central Area posted a 3-1 (20-25, 25-22, 25-8, 25-23) win over Benson in high school volleyball on Tuesday night. “We had a slow start again in the opening set,” reported WCA Head Coach Missy Foslien. “We got down and had to chase to catch up. We gained momentum at the end of set one and were able to gain our composure to win set two. Set three we were finally in the zone serving. Set four was again a slow start, but we battled back from a 0-5 deficit and kept it close the rest of the way to finish out the win.”
Leaders for the lady Knights were Macy Grosz (39 set assists, 10/11 serving, 1 ace, 11 digs), Mya Foslien (16 kills, 19/21 serving, 1 ace, 20 digs, 1 block), Madelyn Westrom (20 digs, 9/10 serving, 3 kills, 1 block), Whitney Westrom (25/26 serving, 5 aces, 9digs, 9 kills, 1 block), Izzy Puchalski (13/13 serving, 1 ace, 8 kills), Sophie Sanstead (11 digs), Alaina Sykora (11 digs), Madison Fagre (5 kills, 4 digs) and Lexi Hunter (6/8 serving, 1 ace).
“Our outside hitter, Addison Staples, was not feeling well and two of our reserves, Wylie McNally and Madison Fagre played very well in her place. Mya Foslien had a great night passing in the back row and led us with 16 kills. Freshmen Izzy Puchalski and Madison Fagre also played very well at the net. Whitney Westrom served very well and had a nine point run. As long as we can get in sync and stay in sync we should be fine finishing out the season.”
