The Otter duo upset the top two seeds in the Section 8AA North Subsection individual tournament at Courts Plus in Fargo this past week to advance to the Section 8AA Tournament as the number three seed from the North.

Nasri and Lill earned a spot in the Section Tournament by beating Maddie Petrovich and Lila Rothenberger of East Grand Forks 6-2, 6-3 and then defeating the second seeded Thief River Falls team of Bell Hamre and Paige Weets 7-6(7), 5-7, 6-1 in their matches on Wednesday.

On Thursday, Nasri and Lill opened play to determine where they would be seeded at the Section Tournament with a 4-6, 7-5, 6-1 loss to the number three seeded team from Moorhead, Sophie Swenson and Kylie Torkelson.  They followed that up with an impressive 6-4, 6-1 win over the number one seeded team of Darby Neis and Madison Jensen from Bemidji to earn the number three seed in the Section 8AA Tournament on Saturday in Sartell.

“I simply could not be more proud of these girls,” stated Fergus Falls Head Coach Jamie Lill.  “They came into the tournament unseeded due to a lack of play together.  They proceeded to play the 1st, 2nd and 3rd seeded teams and knock out the top two on their way to a third place finish.  They were gritty, determined, consistent, positive and exciting to watch.”
