Wheaton/Herman-Norcross built a 49-0 halftime lead Friday night on the way to a 55-8 high school football victory over Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley. The Warriors held the Wolverines to just 160 total yards and CGB was only able to convert 3-of-12 third down opportunities.
The Warriors got the scoring started with a 45 yard pass from Marshall Tolifson to Clint Determan, followed by a Determan PAT kick. Determan then hauled in a 5 yard pass from Tolifson and added a second PAT kick for a 14-0 lead. An 8 yard run by Brayden Hofer and another Determan kick pushed the lead to 21-0 and Dylan Bainbridge then broke a punt return for 65 yards and the fourth TD of the quarter. Determan made it 4-for-4 on PAT kicks, giving the Warriors a 28-0 lead after one quarter.
In the second quarter, Tolifson hooked up with Determan on a 10 yard touchdown pass, Patrick Forcier scored on a 9 yard run and Bainbridge carried the ball into the end zone from 6 yards out. Determan added 3 extra-point kicks as Wheaton/Herman-Norcross expanded their lead to 49-0.
The third quarter was scoreless and Brody Nachbor scored the final TD of the night for the Warriors on a 5 yard run, pushing the score to 55-0. CGB scored on a 25 yard run and added the two-point conversion for a 55-8 final score.
Tolifson completed all 7 of his pass attempts for 108 yards and 3 touchdowns. Determan caught all 3 TD passes for a total of 60 yards and Bainbridge led the rushing attack with 47 yards on 6 carries. Wheaton/Herman-Norcross had 277 total yards with 145 coming through the air and 132 on the ground.
Defensively, Bryant Callenius had an interception, Drake Berning recovered a fumble and Caden Spilde blocked a kick.
Wheaton/Herman-Norcross (6-0) remains undefeated on the season and will host unbeaten Verndale (6-0) on Friday night.
CGB will be seeking its first win of the season when they host Rothsay (3-3) on Friday.
