The M State lady Spartans turned in an impressive road trip with a pair of MCAC Southern Division wins over the weekend.  They started the trip with a 3-0 (25-21, 26-24, 25-17) victory over Rochester on Friday night, and ended it with a 3-0 (25-18, 25-19, 25-15) win over Western Technical College on Saturday afternoon.

“We were eager for this weekend especially since we hadn’t played Rochester yet,” said M State head volleyball coach Abby Crowser. “The team was focused and ready to make a statement on Friday. We started strong right away and maintained it for both matches the whole weekend. The girls are really starting to click in so many ways, both on and off the court. Everyone played confident, aggressive, but also relaxed. It’s not just 1 or 2 players making a win happen, it’s everyone doing what they do best that makes us a well-balanced team. They all have an important role and seeing them each embrace that to be successful is exciting.”

Leaders in the Rochester match were Faith Marion (10 kills, 7 digs, 8/10 serving, 2 aces), Kaleigh Sip (10 kills, 4 digs, 1 block assist), Avery Wanner (14 digs, 13/14 serving, 1 ace), Kaia Strom (10 digs, 25 set assists), Kendra Emery (8 digs, 13/13 serving), Laci Strom (8 digs, 5/7 serving, 1 ace), Emily Dehler (12/13 serving, 2 aces, 4 kills, 5 solo blocks) and Lindsey Kurz (4 kills, 2 solo blocks).

In the match against Western Tech the lady Spartans were led by Marion (14 kills, 18/19 serving, 4 aces, 13 digs), Kurz (10 kills, 3 solo blocks, 1 block assist), Sip (8 kills, 1 solo block), Brooke Hovland (7 kills, 3 digs), Emery (9 digs), Kaia Strom (35 set assists, 16/18 serving, 2 aces, 9 digs, 1 block assist, 4 kills), Wanner (30 digs, 10/12 serving), Dehler (6 kills, 5/7 serving, 1 ace, 4 digs) and Laci Strom (6/8 serving, 1 ace, 2 digs).

M State (17-6 overall, 10-0 MCAC South) will host Ridgewater College at 6:30pm Wednesday in Fergus Falls.
