Balanced Attack Leads Owls to 66-14 Win Over Trojans

Chase Evink ran for 192 yards, Davin Rose passed for 192 yards and the Hancock offense accumulated 526 total yards in their 66-14 victory over Ortonville on Friday night.  Defensively, the Owls held the Trojans to 175 total yards, with only 70 yards coming on the ground.

Evink scored the only first quarter touchdown, taking the ball into the end zone from 2 yards out.  He then ran in the two point conversion for an 8-0 Hancock lead.

A 16 yard run by Dain Schroeder and a two point conversion run by Rose gave the Owls a 16-0 lead early in the second quarter.  Jackson Koehl then scored on a 15 yard run and Evink got in for the two point conversion and a 24-0 Hancock advantage.  Evink second TD of the game came on a 13 yard run and Koehl hauled in a two point pass from Rose for a 32-0 lead.  Schroeder scored the final TD of the opening half on a 6 yard run and Koehl was on the receiving end of another Rose two point pass, making it 40-0 at the half.

Ortonville got on the scoreboard on a 25 yard run to start the second half, but failed to convert on the PAT attempt, putting the score at 40-6.  Evink’s 46 yard run pushed the score up to 46-6 and a 36 yard pass from Rose to Titus Bjerketvedt, plus a two point run by Rose elevated the score to 54-6.  The final score of the third quarter came on a 3 yard hook-up from Rose to Rylan Meierding, making it a 60-6 ballgame heading to the fourth quarter.

Nathan Kellenberger carried the ball in form 6 yards out for the final Hancock TD of the game in the fourth quarter and Ortonville closed out the scoring for the night with an 11 yard run and a successful two point play.

Kellenberger finished with 71 yards on 6 rushing attempts.  The leading receiver for the Owls was Koehl with 6 catches for 100 yards.  Bjerketvedt caught 3 balls for 61 yards.  Koehl led the defense with 8 solo tackles, 5 assisted tackles, 7 tackles for loss and a sack.  Bjerketvedt and Donovan Curfman each intercepted a pass, while Koehl, Meierding and Trent Messner all recovered fumbles.

Hancock (5-1) will host Sebeka on Friday night, while Ortonville (2-4) hosts Hillcrest Lutheran Academy.
