The New York Mills Eagles suffered their first defeat of the season in a tough 14-8 homecoming loss to Menahga on Friday night.  “A tough Homecoming loss to the Braves,” said Mills Head Coach Matt Radniecki. “Menahga was ready to play and they came out ready to go.  We played good ball at times but we just couldn't sustain drives once we got in the red zone.  When we needed to finish drives we struggled.  We had opportunities throughout the game and we just couldn't take advantage of them.  Menahga brought a physical style of football something that we will need to learn from and move on.”

All of the scoring occurred in the second quarter.  Menahga took an 8-0 lead on a 2 yard run and a successful two-point conversion pass.  The Eagles then tied the game on a Monty Briard 4 yard run and a two-point conversion run by Jonah Ruther.  Menahga regained the lead on a 27-yard TD pass late in the quarter, but failed on the PAT attempt, putting the score at 14-8.

“This game will give us some film to watch for improvement from our team and also how do we bounce back from a loss,” added Coach Radniecki.  “I think with our seniors we will be ready to play vs. Parkers Prairie on Friday night.  It was a fun Homecoming week for our student body and congrats to our JV team on their 8-6 win over Frazee on Monday.”
