Panthers Ride 36 Point Second Quarter to 50-22 Win Over Rockets

Parkers Prairie and Underwood were tied 14-14 after the first quarter, however, the Panthers took control of the contest with 36 second quarter points, taking a 50-14 lead at the half.  The Rockets were able to produce a fourth quarter touchdown and two point conversion to put the final score at 50-22.

Collin Lukken put Underwood on the board first with a 5 yard touchdown run at 7:18 of the first quarter.  Jack Parker’s extra point kick gave the Rockets a 7-0 lead.  Parkers Prairie scored on a 13 yard run by Mason Boesl at 4:49 and converted a two point pass from Cohen Noska to Benjamin Harrington to take an 8-7 lead.  Lukken’s second TD of the night, this one from 3 yards out, was followed by another Parker PAT, giving Underwood a 14-8 advantage.  David Revering’s 31 yard TD run with just fifty second left in the quarter tied the game at 14-14.

The second quarter was all Parkers Prairie as Boesl scored on runs of 23 and 60 yards to start the quarter.  Noska and Revering each scored a two-point conversion, increasing the Panthers lead to 30-14.  Revering then broke loose for a 90 yard TD run and Noska completed a 91 yard TD pass to Bennet Arceneau, followed by a PAT kick by Noska for a 43-14 lead.  Noska hooked up with Arceneau a second time, this one covering 20 yards and Noska’s kick put the score at 50-14 at the half.

Noah Link completed the scoring with a one yard TD run with 3:47 left in the game and Conner Nelson carried the ball over the goal line for the two-point conversion, making the final score 50-22.

The Panthers had 492 total yards on the night with 365 coming on the ground.  Revering (11 carries, 213 yards, 2 TD’s) and Boesl (11 carries, 162 yards, 3 TD’s) were dominant in the run game.  Arceneau caught all 3 of Noska’s completions for 127 yards and 2 scores.  Arceneau, Chavous Wendt and Nolan Steidl each had an interception for Parkers Prairie.  Holden Truax, Zachary Mrnak and Boesl and each recorded a sack.  Arceneau and Truax each made 6 solo tackles.

The Rockets ran for 120 yards and passed for 192, giving them 312 total yards.  Link was 8-for-16 throwing the ball for 192 yards.  Lukken ran for 60 yards on 13 attempts and the leading receivers were Owen Harig (3 catches, 108 yards) and Nelson (3 catches, 90 yards).  Defensive leaders were Brock Hasling (7 solo tackles, 1 assisted tackle) and Kale Rich (6 solo tackles, 2 assisted tackles).
