Melrose recorded wins in three tight sets against West Central Area on Tuesday night to defeat the lady Knights in Barrett 25-21, 28-26, 25-22.  “We had our chances tonight, in each set,” stated WCA Head Coach Missy Foslien.  “We are going through a slump right now mid-season.  We need to adjust, we need to work hard and still do the things we know we can do and do them well.  It’s not going to get any easier.”

Addison Staples had a great game at the net with 14 kills to lead WCA.  “She came in swinging hard and aggressively,” noted Coach Foslien.  “We know that tipping isn’t going to win games, you have to be able to execute plays.”

Macy Grosz (31 set asissts, 14 digs, 1 block, 9/9 serving), Mya Foslien (13 digs, 11 kills, 11/11 serving), Izzy Puchalski (12/14 serving, 1 ace), Whitney Westrom (12/13 serving, 1 ace, 7 kills), Madelyn Westrom (10/10 serving, 1 ace) 12 digs), Sophie Sanstead (13 digs) and Lexi Hunter (10/12 serving, 1 ace) were the statistical leaders for the lady Knights.

West Central Area will face Minnewaska Area on Thursday.

“The Lakers have been rolling right along and pushing teams around too,” said Foslien.  “We need to find our fire again, it’s more mental right now than anything.”
