The West Central Area/Ashby football team recorded their fourth consecutive victory when they won 38-27 in Crookston on Friday night, improving their season record to 4-1. Senior Anthony Sykora led the 247 yard rushing attack for the Knights with 164 yards. WCA/Ashby finished with 316 yards of total offense on the night.
After falling behind 7-0, Nasir Dotts scored on a 25-yard run and Brady Lindquist connected with Cole Anderson for the two-point conversion and an 8-7 lead for the Knights.
Lindquist and Anderson hooked up on a 20 yard TD pass in the second quarter to increase their lead 14-7. A 65 yard run by Sykora pushed the lead to 20-7 at halftime.
The Knights scored three times in the third quarter as Jake Norby hauled in an 8 yard pass from Lindquist, Sykora threw a TD pass to Anderson that covered 10 yards, and Lindquist hit Anderson with a 4 yard strike to the end zone, giving WCA/Ashby a 38-7 lead after three quarters.
Crookston finished the scoring with 6 points in the third quarter and 14 in the fourth for a 38-27 final.
Anderson was the top receiver with five catches for 60 yards and 3 scores. Lindquist completed eight passes for 59 yards. The defense forced four turnovers, 3 interceptions and a fumble.
The Knights will host Breckenridge in a 6:00pm contest on Friday night.
