Barnesville compiled 388 rushing yards and 455 yards of total offense on Friday night as they dominated Pillager, winning by the score of 62-0 to improve to 5-0 on the season.

“Eighteen ball carriers, scoring by ten different players, those were the huge highlights of the night,” said Barnesville Head Coach Bryan Strand.  “Kids played hard and not just the starters.  I think all 70 of our kids got on the field and they all played well.  We wanted to take care of business and get our studs off the field fast.  I believe we did that and most only played the first possession of the third quarter and then we subbed fully the rest of the way out.”

John Roller scored on a 30 yard run and Isaac Maneval’s extra point kick gave the Trojans a 7-0 lead.  Andrew Pederson added a 36 yard run in the opening quarter and Maneval’s boot put the Trojans ahead 14-0 after one.

In the second quarter Braeden Bredman went 42 yards for a TD and Maneval’s PAT kick put the score at 21-0.  Zach Bredman then hit Tate Inniger with a 3 yard TD pass for a 27-0 lead.  Braeden Bredman raced 39 yards with a fumble recovery and then ran in the two-point conversion, increasing the Barnesville lead to 35-0.  They made it 42-0 at halftime when Zach Bredman hit Braeden Bredman with a 26 yard touchdown pass and Maneval again added the extra point.

Dawson Gregg carried the ball into the end zone from 17 yards out and a Manval PAT kick upped the score to 49-0.  Gannon Bolgrean added a 49 yard TD run in the third and Ayden Hauck scored on a 24 yard run in the fourth.  Carlos Esteban added the extra point to make the final score 62-0.

“Our younger guys did a great job versus their starters when they were in there, which says a ton for our JV and 9/10 grade teams,” added Coach Strand.  “All three of our teams to date have not lost a game, so when we put in kids they know what they are doing and play hard.  Zach (4-for-4 passing, 2 TD’s) and Braeden Bredman (3 carries, 62 yards, 2 receptions, 45 yards, fumble recovery, 3 TD’s) both had outstanding games.  Jonny Robideau (4 solo tackles, 3 assisted tackles, 19 defensive points) had a good game defensively as well.”

Avery Schroeder had an interception, Logan Yeske forced a fumble, and sacks were recorded by Ethan Hoppe, Christian Lien and Brennan Steele

Barnesville will play at Detroit Lakes on Friday night.
