Hancock scored 32 first quarter points and never looked back as they went on to record a 60-0 shutout victory over Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley on Friday night. The Owls led 46-0 at the half and had a 54-0 lead after three quarters. Hancock outgained CGB 472-70, featuring a balanced attack with 227 passing yards and 245 on the ground.
Chase Evink scored the first two touchdowns of the night on runs of 2 yards and 4 yards. Dain Schroeder ran the two point conversion in after the first TD and Donovan Curfman caught a two-point pass from Davin Rose after the second score. Titus Bjerketvedt then hauled in a 31-yard TD pass from Rose and Rose ran into the end zone for the two-point conversion and a 24-0 lead. Evink’s third TD of the opening quarter came on a 9 yard run. Jackson Koehl caught the two-point pass from Rose and it was 32-0 after one quarter of play.
In the second quarter, Rose connected with Koehl on a 44 yard TD and then hit Bjerketvedt with the two-point conversion pass. Evink then produced his fourth TD of the night on an 86 yard run and the Owls took a 46-0 lead into the locker room at halftime.
Koehl was the target on a 30 yard scoring toss from Rose in the third quarter and Evink carried the ball in for the two-point conversion.
Brayden Kisgen completed the scoring with a 40 yard TD reception.
Hancock was led by Rose (8 completions, 12 attempts, 3 TD’s, 173 yards), Evink (9 carries, 157 yards, 4 TD’s), Koehl (3 receptions, 78 yards, 2 TD’s) and Bjerketvedt (3 receptions, 67 yards, 1TD). Levi Kellenberger led the defensive effort with 4 solo tackles and 4 assisted tackles.
Hancock (4-1) plays at Ortonville on Friday night, while CGB will host unbeaten Wheaton/Herman-Norcross.
