Rothsay hosted Hancock in a high school volleyball match on Thursday night, recording a 3-0 (25-22, 25-18, 25-12) victory over the Owls.

“The Owls have a strong block, and really worked hard to pick up deflections off their block too, so our Tigers hitters needed to make some adjustments in order to score as the match went on,” stated Rothsay Head Coach John Reber. “Once we were able to punch through their front line, the offense started to flow. The Owls have some aggressive servers, but our passers handled it capably and dropped the ball into the target zone more often than not. Our servers did a great job of moving the ball around, yielding 12 aces while serving 92% as a team, culminating in Gracyn Petersen icing the match with two aces at the end of the third. It was a great team win, and our C and JV teams earned clean sweeps as well, so it was a good night for Rothsay volleyball.”

Individual leaders for the Tigers included Petersen (15 digs, 13/13 serving with 4 aces), Kenadi Carlsrud (12 kills, 2.2 passing average, 9 digs, 15/15 serving with 2 aces), Madison Tillman (4 kills, 12/12 serving with 3 aces), Bethany Danielson (6 kills, 8/9 serving with 2 aces) and Elli Meyer (19 assists, 8 digs, 2 kills).

Rothsay (4-6) will participate in the Bertha-Hewitt Tournament on Saturday.
