The Brandon-Evansville football team fell behind 6-0 in the first quarter, tied the game 6-6 at the half and scored the game winner in the fourth quarter as the Chargers posted a 14-6 win over Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley on Friday night.

"CGB played a physical game upfront and we struggled to match that at times,” said Brandon-Evansville Head Coach Dan Johnson. “We also struggled with penalties after a couple of long runs. This greatly disrupted any momentum we were trying to build on offense. Cleaning up those mental errors will be our top priority as we move forward.  Luckily, we won the field position battle this week. Our punt unit covered well and CGB had few times where they had decent starting field position."

CGB struck first with a 28 yard TD pass for a 6-0 first quarter lead.  Brandon-Evansville tied the game when Micah Fuller completed a 9 yard TD pass to Stephen Hamilton in the second quarter.

"We defended them pretty well after their first play of the game,” added Coach Johnson. “Our defensive line was gap sound and our linebackers fit the run gaps well. We have many players finding ways to contribute even though they may not fill up the stat sheet. Their efforts continue to be important for our defense."

The winning score occurred in the fourth quarter when Ryland Yeats carried the ball over the goal line from the one yard line and then was successful on the two-point conversion run.

Brandon-Evansville had 155 yards of total offense, with 146 coming on the ground.  CGB was held to 108 total yards (39 rushing, 69 passing).

Yeats led the attack with 94 rushing yards on 15 carries and Fuller added 47 yards on 8 attempts.

No stats were reported by CGB.

B-E (2-2) will host Ortonville on Friday night and CGB (0-4) will play at Hancock.
