Lakers Rack up 600 Yards in 49-6 Win Over Perham

The high-powered Detroit Lakes offense featured three touchdowns of over 70 yards on Friday night as the Lakers routed Perham by the score of 49-6 at Mollberg Field in DL.  Ethan Carrier led the relentless Laker ground attack with 290 rushing yards on 10 carries, reaching the end zone 3 times.  DL had a total of 403 rushing yards on 38 attempts and added 197 passing yards for a whopping total of 600 yards.

Carrier got Detroit Lakes on the board with a 79 yard run on the first play from scrimmage.  A Nick Buboltz extra point kick put the score at 7-0.  With 52 seconds left in the first quarter Caden Strand connected with Grady Kirchner on a 12-yard TD pass and Buboltz tacked on the fourteenth point.

Ethan Carrier’s second TD of the night came on the first play of a second quarter possession as he raced 87 yards with 8:58 to go in the half.  Buboltz made it 21-0 with the PAT kick.  Just over a minute later Perham got on the board when Braylon Rach went 84 yards and the extra point attempt was blocked, making the score 21-6.  Carrier’s third TD of the night came with 5:17 remaining in the second quarter when he scored on a 13-yard run.  Buboltz made it 28-6 with another PAT kick.  With 3:15 to play in the half, Mason Carrier hauled in a 77 yard pass from Strand and Buboltz was again successful on the extra point for a 35-6 DL lead.  Strand hooked up with Mason Carrier again, this time on a 25-yard pass with just 1:02 left in the half.  Another Buboltz PAT kick, gave the Lakers a 42-6 lead at halftime.

The final TD of the night was on a 4-yard run by Tommy Suckert with 2:01 on the clock in the third quarter.  Buboltz finished a perfect kicking night with his seventh PAT kick and the Lakers ended the night with a 49-6 victory.

Strand completed 9-of-11 passes for 197 yards and 3 TD’s.  His top receivers were Mason Carrier (3 catches, 145 yards, 2 TD’s) and Grady Kirchner (2 catches, 23 yards, TD).

Perham was led by Braylon Rach (8 carries, 113 yards, TD), Blaiz Schmidt (6-of-14 passing, 46 yards) and Evan Kovash (4 catches, 39 yards).  Perham had 127 rushing yards and 70 passing yards for 197 yards of total offense.  Rach led the Yellowjackets with 8 tackles and Ben Shumansky recorded 7 tackles.  Jaxon Vetch recovered a fumble.

Perham (2-2) will play at Fergus Falls next Friday night at 6:00pm.
