Eagles Overcome 14-0 First Quarter Deficit to Beat Wolverines

New York Mills overcame a 14-0 first quarter deficit to post a 19-14 win over Wadena-Deer Creek on Friday night.  The Eagles elevated their defensive play following the first quarter and did not allow another point to the Wolverines the rest of the night.  Brayden Ehnert and Blake Unger led the defense with an interception each and Unger had a team high 11 tackles.

The Wolverines scored on a 3 yard pass and a 51 yard pass, adding a pair of extra-point kicks to build their 14-0 lead after one quarter.

In the second quarter Brayden Ehnert scored on a 7-yard run and kicked the extra point, cutting the Wolverines lead to 14-7.

A 53-yard run by Teagan Lausten trimmed the lead to 14-13 in the third quarter.

Brayden Ehnert completed a 37 yard pass to DaShaun Robinson for the game winner in the fourth quarter.

New York Mills (3-0) will host Pine River-Backus on Friday night.

Wadena-Deer Creek (2-1) is on the Road on Friday against Red Lake.
