The Pequot Lakes Patriots scored a pair of first quarter touchdowns to take an early 14-0 lead over Fergus Falls on Friday night.  The Patriots held a 21-7 halftime lead, scored two more TD’s in the third quarter for a 34-7 advantage and maintained that lead to the end as they improved to 2-1 on the season.  The Otters dropped to 1-2 with the loss.

Quarterback Grant Loge of the Patriots completed 13-of-25 passes for 240 yards and 4 touchdowns.  Pequot Lakes had 422 total yards and accumulated 18 first downs in the game.  Riggs Magnuson was the leading receiver with 4 catches for 104 yards and Bryar Nordby led the rushing attack with 73 yards on 10 carries.

The first touchdown of the night came with 7:01 to play in the opening quarter when Loge connected with Nordby on a 3 yard touchdown pass on fourth down.  The extra point kick failed and the Patriots led 6-0.  After the Patriots fumbled on their next possession, Clay Wolf intercepted a pass, setting up the second TD which came on a 20 yard pass from Loge to Darby Boelter with 2:10 left in the first quarter.  Loge hit Magnuson with the two-point conversion pass for a 14-0 lead.

The two teams exchanged touchdowns in the second quarter with Riley Larson hauling in a 46 yard TD pass from Loge and Tommy Blomer adding the PAT kick for a 21-0 Patriots lead.  The Otters responded with their only touchdown of the night when Griffin Babolian broke loose for a 44 yard run.  Jaydon Manteufel added the point after and the Otters trailed 21-7 at the half.

John Paul Elsenpeter scored both Pequot Lakes TD’s in the third quarter, the first one on an 8 yard pass from Loge and the second on a one yard run.  Blomer was one-for-two on extra-point tries in the quarter.

Babolian led the Otters with 75 yards on 12 carries.  Brayden Nelson completed 9-of-18 passes for 29 yards.  Darius Lockett had an interception and the Otters also recovered a fumble.
