West Central Area won the first set of their match with BOLD on Thursday night, 25-16, however, the Warriors came on strong with wins of 25-22, 25-16 and 25-15 to claim the match in four sets.

“We started off strong, playing so aggressively and with a never give up attitude,” commented WCA Head Coach Missy Foslien.  “Our team really out hustled them and I think we caught them off guard.  We made some amazing saves and forced errors and we had the momentum going into and part of the way through the second set.  We fell behind 7-0 in the fourth set and that made it just too hard to come back against a team who hits as aggressively as BOLD does.”

Stat leaders for the lady Knights were Addison Staples (10/13 serving, 1 ace, 10 digs, 8 kills), Mya Foslien (9/9 serving, 13 digs, 16 kills, 2 blocks), Macy Grosz (15/15 serving, 1 ace, 10 digs), Whitney Westrom (13/13 serving, 1 ace, 4 digs, 6 kills, 1 block), Madelyn Westrom (12/13 serving, 1 ace, 11 digs, 7 kills), Izzy Puchalski (10/12 serving, 1 ace, 6 digs) and Sophie Sanstead (14 digs).

“I was so impressed with Madelyn and Whitney Westrom’s hustle and intensity tonight,” noted Coach Foslien.  “Madelyn played so scrappy and Whitney went up against girls five-six inches taller than her in the middle and hit some very smart shots.  It was just fun to see her excel against bigger players!  Macy did a great job mixing up sets and Mya had some nice clean kills.”

The Knights are now 8-2 overall and 4-2 in the West Central Conference.  Their next match is at Montevideo on Tuesday.
