The Alexandria Cardinal Boys Soccer team traveled to Willmar for a Cardinal clash with the reigning CLC and Section 6AA champions. While the Cardinals knew the match would be a challenge and a must win for the chance at the CLC Championship, the match play was well balanced. Both teams played strong and physical while each team found a tough opponent on the other side of the ball.  The result was a 1-1 tie.

The Cardinals again had a lone goal this match. This one came in the 14th minute of play when Otto Anderson sent a short pass across the 6 yard box to allow Tripp Shatek the opportunity to find his first goal of the season. Willmar was able to score in the 25th minute of play leaving the score 1-1 at half. The second half saw well balanced play and continued effort on both sides. In the final minutes of regulation, Alexandria was issued a red card causing them to play down a man for the remainder of the regulation and also into overtime.

The Gatorade of the Game went to Senior captain, Jack Carlson, for his leadership throughout the entire match. Helping the team stay level headed with a focus on the task at hand.

The Cardinals advanced to 4-1-2 on the season and will host Sauk Rapids Rice for a 7pm kick-off this Thursday at Viking Bank field.
