Lady Cards Defeat Storm in CLC Swimming and Diving Dual

The Alexandria Cardinal Girls Swim and Dive team had a Thursday night win against the Sauk Rapids Rice Storm and also came away with multiple lifetime bests.

Winning the 200 Free and dropping time was Grace Urke, followed in the next event by Izzy Rodriguez with a lifetime best in the JV 200 IM as well as Alaina Guenther achieving a lifetime best in the Varsity 200 IM. In the JV 50 Free Elise Maagard, Brooke Overland and Ella May all had lifetime best swims. In diving Lauren Hornstein had a strong showing placing first with a total score of 195.70.

During the second half of the meet the Cards continued to drop time starting with the 100 Fly where Grace Urke, Rayna Holm and Brooke Overland all had lifetime best swims. Allison Boe dropped over 2 seconds in her JV 100 Free and on the Varsity side Alaina Guenther, Emma Bugher and Hannah Hoff took a 1-3-5 finish in the 100 Free to add some strength to the Cardinal lineup. In the 500 time drops were had by some newer distance swimmers, Chelsey Weigel dropping over 4 seconds and Elise Maagard dropping almost 20 seconds in the event.

The Cards capped off the night with a win in the 200 Free Relay by Guenther, Holm, Haskamp and Urke followed by a lifetime best in the 100 Back by Brooklyn Millward and a first place finish in the 100 Breast by Jisella Haskamp with a time of 1:08.35 putting her under the state time standard.

Next up, the Cards begin a string of meets on the road traveling first to St. Cloud Tech on Tuesday, September 13.
