On another beautiful Saturday, the Alexandria Cardinals hosted their second quadrangular of the season. The lady Cards beat Detroit Lakes 4-3, lost to Crookston 5-2 and fell to Osakis 4-3.

Alexandria took on subsection opponent Detroit Lakes to start the day. The Lakers hoped to sweep doubles and find a singles win.  They succeeded in doubles, but were unable to find a singles win.  All four singles players (Marisa Rousu, Rachel Wegner, Kylie Lattimer, and Teresa Bitzan) were the first four matches off the court, winning in straight sets to secure a 4-3 team win.

Alexandria faced the Crookston Pirates next, who jumped out to an early lead in the singles line-up, taking three of the four spots.  Marisa Rousu saved the singles sweep, winning her match at second singles in straight sets.  Crookston found similar success in doubles and went on to win the match by a team score of 5-2. Chelby Runge and Ayla Rolin scored the second Alexandria team point, winning in straight sets at second doubles.

Alexandria finished the day by taking on the Osakis Silverstreaks.  The match was close throughout, but the Cardinals could not find one last team point and lost, 4-3. Osakis used their solid singles line-up to score the first team points at first and third singles.  Alexandria responded with their doubles line-up, equalizing the match score with wins in doubles.  Ayla Rolin and Chelby Runge won in straight sets at second doubles, while Jalyn Halverson and Kylie Lattimer came from behind to win in a third super tiebreaker at first doubles.  Osakis regained the lead with a win at third doubles.  Then, Rachel Wegner tied it back up with a come from behind, three set win of her own, at second singles.  Katelyn Thiery was the last Cardinal on at fourth singles and battled hard in many close games, but lost 4-6, 3-6.

Alexandria gained important experience, taking on three quality teams and will look to use that against two top conference teams, Rocori and St. Cloud, this week.
