Spartans Rally for 35-29 Win in Wahpeton

M State trailed 29-21 at halftime Saturday in Wahpeton, however, the Spartans blanked the Wildcats in the second half and rallied for a 35-29 victory.  NDSCS had 431 total yards compared to 277 for M State and had 74 offensive snaps to 50 for the Spartans.

Kenneth Cooper had another great day at quarterback for the Spartans, completing 18-of-34 passes for 236 yards and 3 TD’s.  Rondarius Gregory ran for 41 yards on 12 attempts and caught 5 passes for 57 yards and a touchdown.  Isaac Freitag led M State with 73 receiving yards on 4 catches. 

Defensive leaders were Chris Heidl with 18 tackles and JoQuez Sanders with 15 tackles.  Alieu Conteh had a pick six and Joey Demarco also had an interception.  Danny Disterhaft recorded a sack.

NDSCS was led by quarterback Graedyn Buell (7 completions, 19 attempts, 211 yards, 3 TD’s, 22 rushing attempts, 62 yards), Aaron Grant (11 carries, 64 yards), Chandler Ross Jr. (16 carries, 63 yards), Brady Borgen (2 receptions, 78 yards, 2 TD’s), Kemar Graham (2 receptions, 67 yards, 1 TD) and Marselio Mendez (3 receptions, 66 yards).   Defensively, Erik Lumpkin made 7 tackles, recorded a sack, forced a fumble and picked off a pass.  Cyrinus George was the leading tackler with 9.

The Spartans will host a 3:00pm kickoff against Vermilion Community College on Saturday in Fergus Falls.
