Border West and Wahpeton-Breckenridge Compete at Milbank Grandstay CC Invite
The Border West Cross Country teams participated in the Milbank Grandstay Invite on Saturday at the Whetstone Creek Golf Course north of Milbank, South Dakota. “Another great day of running for the Border West program,” said Head Coach Brittany Erickson. “Fourteen runners ran personal bests or faster mile averages for the season.”

Karissa Anderson was sitting at 11th at the mile mark and made her move going up the last hill to earn a medal in the girls’ Junior High race. Raelyn Wiegman ran her best all season, averaging 8:02/mile.
Brenden Whaley was the Buccaneers lone Junior High boy runner and ran his fastest average mile time.
In JV, Liz Franzese and Karter Martinek both ran their fastest times and medaled.
Drew Sykora and Lucas Gahlon continue to dominate their JV races and medaled. Kyle Kremer and Carter Fickes ran personal bests.
In Varsity competition, Julia Schmidt ran a PR, placed 7th and earned a t-shirt. Braylen Schmidt looked her best so far season and shaved off over a minute on her 5 K.
Joe Arens broke 18 minutes, ran his first mile in 5:47 and averaged that pace the entire race. Both Brady Pederson and Ian Swedlund ran PRs.
Milbank does a Bullpup Race for elementary kids. Larissa Erickson ran for the K-2 division for Border West and placed 7th.
