The Battle Lake volleyball team defeated Bertha-Hewitt 3-2 (20-25, 26-24, 25-19, 16-25, 15-3) in a Friday afternoon match. “This was a great match with both teams playing some great defense and displaying some tough serving,” reported Battle Lake Head Coach Jenny Roisum.
The Bears had a serving edge with 18 aces, while the Battlers tallied 11 aces. The Battlers had three players in double digit digs, while putting up 8 blocks.
Leaders for Battle Lake were Kenady Cameron (11 kills, 9 digs, 5 blocks), Morgan Malone (9 kills, 12 digs, 23/23 serving), Quinn Amundson (18/18 serving, 9 digs), Molly Durbin (10 digs) and Sophie Akerman (32 set assists, 13 digs).
“The girls are taking what we are working on in practice and working really hard on doing the skills in the match,” noted Coach Roisum. “It paid off today.”
Battle Lake will head to Underwood next Tuesday for the start of Little Eight Conference play.
