Alexandria hosted Rocori in a Central Lakes Conference boys’ soccer contest at Viking Bank Field on Thursday night. The last time these teams met was at the Section 8AA Semifinals where the Cardinals were favored to win, but lost to the Spartans in a season ending match. This time it was Alexandria coming out on top, 1-0.
With playoff-like tension in the air, the two foes battled for a full 80 minutes of play. “The play was well-balanced and both teams were working tough the entire match,” stated Alexandria Head Coach Brandon Johnson.
The lone goal came from the Cardinals in the fifteenth minute of play from a corner kick. Otto Anderson was able to find a header finish with the assist coming from Cole Haabala.
The Cardinals are 2-0 on the season. They will travel to St. Cloud Apollo on Tuesday for a 7:00pm kickoff against the Eagles.
