The Alexandria girls’ soccer team is coming off a Section 8AA championship, earning a trip to the state tournament in 2021 and finishing with an overall record of 15-31.  The Cardinals were undefeated on their home field.  Kylee James, a center defender now playing at Concordia College in Moorhead, Morgan Sanow, Elise Tesch and Amanda Kietzmann were all lost to graduation, however, Alexandria has 9 returning starters from that successful squad.

Returning players include seniors Sophia Vinje (Goalkeeper) who has started in goal since seventh grade, Ellen Panther (Defense), Morgan Jones (Forward), Ella Westland (Forward) and Alexa Eggebraaten (Midfield), juniors Greta Oldenkamp (Midfield), Elle Heydt (Midfield) and Sophia Korynta (Forward), and sophomore Allie Haabala (Midfield).

“We are athletic and powerful,” stated Head Coach Amy Korynta.  “We return our entire starting offense from last year, but will be adjusting to new players on defense.”

Junior Avery Sinning (Defense) and sophomores Lydia Oldenkamp (Defense), Finley Klemenhagen (Defense), Abby Faber (Defense), Camree Miller (Midfield), Emma Ramstorf (Midfield), Brenna Eggebraaten (Midfield) and Mackenzie Jurchenko (Forward) will be in the mix for varsity playing time.

Korynta will be assisted by Dwight VanTeefflenen (Varsity Assistant), Kristen Faber (JV) and Kacey Long (JV).

Korynta says East Grand Fork is the top challenger in Section 8AA, with Sartell and Brainerd the top teams in the Central Lakes Conference.
