If there was ever a season that was ‘one for the books’, the 2021 Alexandria Girls Swimming and Diving team delivered it!  The Cardinals were 11-0 in dual meets, had a perfect 8-0 Central Lakes Conference record, won the CLC meet for the first time since 1998 and broke the pool record in the 200 Free relay in the process, won their first Section title since 1995, gained a school record in the 100 breaststroke and in the 200 free relay, won the Section 6A True Team meet and advanced to the True Team state meet for the first time ever and went undefeated for the first time since 1997.

“After an incredible season last year, we’re looking to do some rebuilding after losing a very talented senior class,” reported fourth-year Head Coach Crysta Krause.  “There is some young talent that has joined us and we’re looking to them to help bolster the roster, as well as the returning upperclassmen.”

Returning letter winners include seniors Emma Bugher, Alaina Guenther, Brooklyn Millward, Summer Overland and Hannah Skillings, juniors Jisella Haskamp, Erica Johnson, Elise Magaard, Isabella Rodriguez and Chelsey Weigel, and sophomores Rayna Holm, Lauren Hornstein and Grace Urke.

Coach Krause also expects junior Amelia Tucker, freshmen Cora Baumgarner, Alli Schultz, Ning Zhang and Luck Kieffer, and eighth-grader Hannah Hoff to make a varsity impact.

Krause says Rocori and Melrose are the top challengers in Section 6A, with Sartell, Rocori and Brainerd leading the way in the Central Lakes Conference.

Aaron Rooney (Diving Coach) and Jill Burns (Assistant Coach) round out the Cardinals coaching staff.
