Amy Revering begins her twelfth season as Head Coach of the Parkers Prairie volleyball team with four returners from last season’s team that went 17-12.  The Panthers lost six experienced varsity players to graduation and will have some spots open on the roster and some varsity playing time available.  Returning letter winners include outside hitters Cora Johnson (SR) and Jada Lego (SR), libero Ashley Olson (SR) and setter Alyssa Revering (FR).

“All four girls have contagious personalities, a passion for the game, strong work ethic, great leadership skills, and lots of experience, not only through our program, but also in JO volleyball,” noted Coach Revering.  “They lead by example, and know when to bring seriousness to the court and when to have a little fun!”

The Panthers will have a lot of new players on the varsity squad, creating opportunity for varsity court time.

Jessa Rounds (JR) will be coming in as our Defensive Specialist,” said Revering.  “She is quick on defense and a very solid serve receiver.  We will likely be switching form a 5-1 to a 6-2, running two freshman setters.  Revering will return from last year, but newcomer Alexa Lego (FR) will be stepping in as setter #2.  I am excited to see what she brings to the court.  We also have sophomore Ellie Koep (SO), looking to make an impact out of the middle.  She puts up a big block with her vertical and has great net play.  We have two right side hitters, Avery Benzinger (SR), who always puts the ball in play, and Kad Wehking (SR) who looks for kills in every attack, looking to make a big presence on the court.”

Other players on the varsity roster include seniors Abbi Ruckheim (Middle Blocker) and Laura Hagel (Utility) and freshman Evy Griniger (Middle Blocker/Right Side Hitter).

“Our new players will need to gain experience at the faster paced game,” stated Revering.  “We also need lots of reps in practice, as we lost both middles and are adding a new setter to the mix.  Our other big obstacle to overcome is lack of confidence.  The girls have set high goals for themselves and get flustered when they make mistakes.  This team loves the game, works hard together, and has lots of fun on the court.  They have been working all summer to reach their personal and team goals.”

Revering expects the Panthers to be top contenders in both the Little Eight Conference and the sub-section.  She has Underwood as the team to beat in the LEC and Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa at the top of the sub-section, with Underwood and Henning ranked the top teams in the section.

Rounding out the coaching staff are Alicia Kruse (JV), Karin Wagner (C-Squad) and Heather Moske (Booster Coach).
